Twas the night before Christmas eve and all through the house Not a creature was stirring, except for my mouse. It downloaded, uploaded, edited with ease Til My hard drive cried out “I am stuffed, not another byte, please!” Continue reading Down computer! →
My darling husband had got me, for my 35th birthday, a gift certificate for an “Introductory Flight” via BeAPilot.com. That was back in June.
Since then, of course, we’ve moved, we’ve re-established our business, and generally kept very busy. Long story short, I dilly-dallied along.
There was a catch to all this time I allowed to pass, though.

A bird flu pandemic panic has got the news agencies’ satellites buzzing these days. Makes me happy the’re up “there” rather than down here.
Anyway, there is one guy saying “Poppycock! Ain’t gonna happen!”. Too bad he doesn’t have a bunch of letters after his name, he might be taken more seriously. Mr Michael Fumento has been making some pointed comments, meant to make those of us who can do so, think more clearly and logically. Unfortunately, the reporter interviewing him today on CNN’s “American Morning” show completely missed his point and had to cut him off for lack of time. That prompted me to write (but of course!) the following letter to CNN. I hope whoever reads it will at least think for themselves.

 GIS Map of Soulsease
We’ve been rather busy lately, but not with construction: that’s been put on hold for the nonce with work coming in every day. Good for the bank account, bad for building completion.
Meantime, the county has been on a revaluation project that includes GIS technology. As a result, they have made available PDF’s delineating everyone’s property lines. The new maps are clearer than anything else we’ve seen so far! Check this out!

On Getting Older October 11th, 2005, sometime in the evening.
“I can’t wait to be older!” exclaimed Tai.
“Well why, sweetie?” I asked.
“‘Cause then I’ll be that big, and you guys… you guys will be different.”

Nunu, Tai and Tigger came back from the playground earlier than they had planned, some 20 minutes after leaving in the first place. Surprised, Rip asks Nunu why they’re back so soon.
“She wanted to come back,” she answers, indicating Tai. Continue reading She’s Gonna be Three Pretty Soon →
This has been an exciting day. First we went to the Habitat for Humanity store (called “Habitat for Humanity ReStores“, where every penny of the sales goes back to the organization) to pick up some bathroom and kitchen fixtures. We found a cast-iron enameled bathtub that seemed unused: it looks like the enamel finish got chipped in transport, and that’s how it ended up in the Habitat for Humanity back yard. Cost: $10.

Rip showed up at the laundry room where the girls and I had just finished loading the machines, so excited about the phone call he just received he couldn’t wait for us to come back:
Our Building Permit has been approved! First time through, no questions asked! YAY!

Dumpster Diaries
Why do people have to be so lazy?
Yesterday I watched as a man — who presumably works for our apartment complex — picked up nearly a dumpster’s worth of trash from the ground surrounding our dumpster and put it where it actually belonged: IN the trash compactor.
